River wrigglers kids art workshop with Adur River Recovery
Calling young eco-warriors, nature-nurturers and creative kids! Join me at Chapter34 bookshop to meet real life river wrigglers and make your own bug, beetle or butterfly from trash collected on Sussex beach cleans.
This is a family-friendly joint workshop with Knepp Wildland Foundation and the Adur River Recovery Project. Mel from Knepp Wildland Foundation will be joining us with a selection of river creatures and insects to explore and learn about. Have you ever seen a dragon fly larvae? Or seen how caddisfly larvae create and decorate a case to live in? Do you know what lives at the bottom of the river?
We will learn about some of the amazing bugs found along our river and what we can do to help them. Then we'll get creative, making dragonflies, beetles, butterflies or your favourite bug, or creating your own 3D caddisfly case, all from discarded fishing gear and materials found on Sussex beach cleans. A double whammy; you'll be supporting the Adur Recovery Project and keeping plastic out of the ocean!
No experience needed and all equipment and materials are provided, including a canvas board for your masterpiece. Please feel free to bring your own clean and dry fishing gear, beach finds, materials or treasures that you would like to incorporate into your design.
Recommended age 4+
