Come together to talk about all things Booker Prize 2025

This isn’t your normal book club — this is an opportunity to dive into the titles from the 2025 Booker Prize shortlist once they’re announced on 23rd September. Come along to Palate to chat about the books, share your thoughts, and enjoy a glass of wine or two.

Your ticket includes one of the shortlisted books  and a glass of wine or a beer.

Once you’ve booked your ticket, please email kelly@chapter34.co.uk to reserve your chosen title as soon as the shortlist is revealed. You’ll also be able to order any of the other shortlisted books if you’d like.

Flesh
A propulsive, hypnotic novel about a man who is unravelled by a series of events beyond his grasp

The Land in Winter
A masterful, page-turning examination of the minutiae of life and a dazzling chronicle of the human heart
By Andrew Miller

The Rest of Our Lives
An unforgettable road trip of a novel about a middle-aged academic whose marriage, career and body are failing him
By Ben Markovits

Audition
An exhilarating, destabilising novel that asks whether we ever really know the people we love
By Katie Kitamura

The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny
A spellbinding story of two young people whose fates intersect and diverge across continents and years – an epic of love and family, India and America, tradition and modernity
By Kiran Desai

Flashlight
A thrilling, globe-spanning novel that mines questions of memory, language, identity and family
By Susan Choi

Your hosts for this glorious evening will be Kelly, owner of Chapter 34, Carmen, Kelly’s right-hand woman, and Verity, owner of Palate. Between the three of us, we’ll have read all six books on the shortlist, so you’ll always have someone to chat with — even if you’ve only managed one title.

The evening will be very relaxed: we’ll chat about the titles, try to convince (or dissuade) each other to read our favourites, and we’ll have a vote for our winner. We were spectacularly wrong last year — so come and see if we can redeem ourselves.

Only 16 tickets are available, and this event is always hugely popular — it will sell out quickly. Book early to avoid disappointment!
