Bookshop Breakfast Social – January

Join us for our January Bookshop Breakfast Social, our monthly Sunday morning gathering at Chapter 34 — we know you love events at the shop, we know you love a good book and a chat, so what’s better than a morning combining all of that with a giant dollop of great company? Especially in January!

Each month we share a fiction title to spark a relaxed, friendly conversation over breakfast. This is not a structured book group, it’s just an opportunity to talk about the book of the month in a relaxed manner, of course, if you loved it or hated it, others will want to know why. We might even mark it out of 10, or maybe we won’t, let’s see how it goes.

Whether you’ve finished the book or just fancy dipping in, everyone’s welcome. You can collect the monthly book from the shop a month ahead of the event.

We’ll provide a nourishing vegetarian breakfast Buddha Bowl, fresh coffee and juices, and you’ll be seated in the shop itself.

Come with someone, or come solo and connect with like-minded locals in Shoreham-by-Sea — it’s all about community, conversation, and a love of stories.

Think of it as a book club, but more relaxed — and with breakfast. Heaven right!?

Welcome to The Cherry Blossom Bookshop, a haven for book lovers that only appears during the fleeting cherry blossom season. Nestled amidst the bloom of delicate petals, you’ll find a sanctuary for those burdened by regrets and past sorrows. Here, Sakura, the mysterious young owner, and her wise calico cat, Kobako, patiently await the arrival of souls in need of solace and healing.

Told over four seasons, each visitor to the bookshop holds a book that bridges their past and present, guiding them towards understanding and acceptance. Within the antique charm of the shop and the soothing aroma of freshly brewed coffee, Sakura and Kobako help their guests confront their lingering sadness through the power of stories, enabling them to move forward with renewed hope.
